jagosParticipantRay, I just upgraded firmware to 1.0.9. Thanks for adding the log size setting. I have set it to 20 but haven’t opened and closed the door enough yet to even reach that limit.

jagosParticipantI suspect “internet connected” means to the internet at large as opposed to just the local home network. I use mine this way sandboxed in an isolated vlan where it can respond to local net requests but not initiate them. The one exception is I allow it to the internet for dest port 123 so it can get the time. I could run a local NTP server but there is no way to specify that to the OG which I think fokcuk is referencing.
For true remote access, I connect to my home network with a vpn so I can get “local” access to my OG. I also wrote a bash script that monitors my OG and sends email and/or SMS on certain conditions which I can get remotely of course. I have just started playing with MQTT with a local server and am getting the OG messages. I intend to write a client watcher in javascript under nodejs to replace the bash script but haven’t gotten to that yet.
jagosParticipantOk, I did not see than anywhere in the documentation. So it already does what I want except with a fixed size much larger than I would want. It still would be nice to have the size be user settable.
jagosParticipantI also have glass panes at the top of my door and it does not seem to matter. But you can test this just by holding the unit above the open door panes (don’t obscure the sensors with your hands) and watching the status on say your phone with the unit’s web page and look at the distance measurement and see if it makes sense and is stable. It does not need to be connected to the door opener yet for this to work. You do need to power it of course. I used a portable usb power pack.
jagosParticipantA secure alternative is to vpn into your home network and then use a browser for the device’s web interface. It is a bit more of a hassle as you need to do the vpn connect first and disconnect afterward but it is the most secure method. I have this working. Also, there is no cost involved which is always nice.
And for automation, I am going to write some cron jobs on my 24/7 linux server (low power odroid, could be an rpi) that uses the device’s api so I can do pretty much whatever I want. Takes some work of course.
