I have the clear box with the brown backplate.
I attempted the 1.0.7 OTA update, and this failed.
I then flashed the device per the instructions, which had me flash nodemcu.bin and then og_1.0.7.bin, both of which were successful.
After this, I unplugged the device from power, and plugged it back in, and I still have a solid Yellow light.
Any idea how I can recover this device?
Update:
I flashed the 1.0.1 firmware after the nodemcu.bin, and that seems to take, so I then tried the 1.0.7 again, and it re broke.
I then did the og_1.0.6-LawrenceJeff.bin version, and that seemed to work. Does 1.0.7 change something that previous versions did not?
I have prepared a zip file that contains necessary tools to reflash the firmware through USB. Please download it here: http://raysfiles.com/og/ogflash.zip
take a look at the README.txt and give it a try to see if it works.
same here, no luck. Flashed nodemcu.bin first, then I’ve tried both og_1.0.7.bin and og_1.0.7_median.bin
After flashing and reconnecting to power, it just the solid green/yellow led, no AP. Not even after pushing the button for at least 5″…
I suspect this has to do with the way the new firmware is compiled (some compilation flags have changed since the previous version). I’ve reversed those flag changes and updated the reflash zip file: http://raysfiles.com/og/ogflash.zip
it’s now named og_1.0.8.bin. Give it a try and see if it works. If not, please submit a support ticket so we can arrange to have it returned to us in order to check why the new firmware isn’t working for your particular unit.
Ray, I was having the exact same problems that Geert describes. Flashing the new 1.0.8 fixed these issues and I was able to actually flash to the new version.
A bit late…, but I agree with jeff5.
I had the Jeff Lawrence version running and updated over the air to 1.0.8. No problems at all, rebooted OK, working fine.
